 X-ray

Every new discovery in science can be compared to a pebble thrown into a pond. As a result of throwing a rock, several circular waves are created in the calm water of the pond centered on the rock. Finally, their circumference increases and causes a stir in all the water in the pond.

1895 AD. Berlin City of Germany. A large lecture hall at the Berlin University of Science. The floor is specially made, the back is high, and the front slopes down to a creme. Surrounded by galleries. In the middle is a big oak table. One morning the lab assistant was setting up various plants on the table for a class demonstration and was connecting wires and switches for power.

Before the assistant could finish the work, the whole hall became crowded with the arrival of visitors. In no time, there was no more room for the students and professors. Those who couldn't find a place to sit sat crammed on the steps of the first gallery. Those who finally came stood in queues without finding any place to sit. There was no end to the discussion between them about the subject matter of the scientific exhibition that day.

After a while a handsome young man entered. Standing next to the oak table, he motioned for the audience to be quiet, and the crowd fell silent for a moment. He approached the table slowly through the side door in silence. A mild-mannered gentleman of small stature. The audience left their seats and showed respect to him. He is a famous German scientist. After he took his place, his junior assistant politely addressed the large crowd, “Ladies and gentlemen, our professor makes a special request of you all to listen carefully to his speech.

Shretas all sat in their respective places. A silent atmosphere prevails throughout the hall. The professor cleared his throat. Then, with a keen eye, he took a look at all the audience and began his speech. The professor continued his speech for about fifteen minutes. He was explaining everything to the audience in simple language by drawing lines, writing and equations on the black board. How he became successful by progressing in research step by step, the short speech of that day is only his history.

At the end of the lecture, the professor motioned for his three colleagues to come forward. Immediately, the atmosphere of light descended on the entire hall. It was very difficult for the visitors to see the exhibition table in half light and half-darkness.

Soon the light returned to normality. To the shock of the audience, the professor made a swift exit. In the silence, the audience felt as if they had been waiting for half a day. Without doing more injustice to their patience, the professor hurried back. Standing next to the table, he presented the first X-ray plate to the audience with both hands.

The audience lost themselves for a moment looking at the plate of invisible rays bearing the shadow of a hand bone. They felt that they were observing some otherworldly scene. As soon as the disillusionment passed, everyone congratulated the accomplished scientist of the day with huge applause. The whole hall immediately erupted in collective cheers. Everyone wanted to push forward at the same time.

The stirring scientist of the day was Wilhelm Konrad Rontgen (Ranjan). In 1901, he was awarded the world's best prize, the Nobel Prize, for the discovery of X-rays. The day after the exhibition, the X-ray negative plate was placed in the window of Will Helmstrasse's bookshop in Berlin for public viewing. A bearded scientist was heard commenting from the audience, “It seems we have reached the limit of scientific discovery. There is nothing left to discover."

The gentleman next to me nodded and said, "This is absolutely true." But it is sad that the future generations are deprived of the thrill of discovering the secret of the unknown. There is nothing left for them to know."

To us today this would seem absolutely ridiculous. It is needless to say how wrong the two gentlemen were that day. Throughout the ages there are some people who think that any particular invention is the last scientific invention and nothing remains. In short, they draw the boundaries of science. But, how wrong this idea is, we can understand from Ranjan's discovery. Scientist Ranjan's discovery of X-rays was the beginning of many discoveries. There was no end to the efforts of subsequent scientists to further improve the X-ray, especially to make it suitable for humans. Many scientists realized that X-rays opened the door to much new research. What was so far only a fantasy has now become a reality. Doctors unraveled the mystery of the ever-mysterious interior of the human body thanks to X-rays. As a result, new branches of medicine emerged.

Botanists and zoologists, physicists and chemists took help in their respective researches. So today we see, the use of X-rays in various branches of science and industry is continuously increasing.

Since 1895, this discovery has been gradually expanding the frontiers of science. A scientific discovery that opens the door to many more discoveries in the future, this history of the discovery of X-rays is a prime example of that. Science has no boundaries, it will always have something left to know about science in infinite ages.

We get to know about the progress of scientific research by talking to scientists, reading the scholarly journals published by them, sometimes attending their meetings and sometimes even visiting their laboratories. Our objective is how today's newly discovered facts can help future generations advance scientific discoveries.

There is no fixed path of research, it always has different paths. For that we should get down to the search because it is absolutely necessary that the scientific truths be discovered before the need arises. And this is only possible with fresh people full of life. Because the vision of the young people is mixed with the magic of the infinite power of imagination. Not only the imagination but the rockets carrying various instruments made by the novices have already crossed the boundaries of space and declared the victory of science. Not only that, almost everything that scientists have discovered in this world has been discovered in the young age of scientists. The symbolic news of space left by a novice is reaching the next generation of young scientists. It seems that humans may soon be rocketing away in search of infinity. Already, how many man-made artificial satellites have constantly orbited our earth, which is rich in soil and water? In the not-too-distant future, these artificial satellites may be human rest stops in space on their way to another world. When this world of ours becomes uninhabitable we will go out in search of a new world. We will move to a new solar system, another galaxy.
